I'm guessing you're not still waiting on a reply to this post, but if you are, send me a message. The de Vaux family who founded Lanercost is well-known and was in Britain since William the Conqueror; there is probably no recent connection to a Rolland de Vaux on the continent in the 1500s but it would be interesting to compare notes.
