Surnames: FODEN, BICKERTON, HEWITT, CHADWICK
Henry FODEN, a farmer of Lower Withington, nr Macclesfield, married Margaret BICKERTON circa 1850's.
Their daughter, Sarah Ann FODEN, my great-grandmother, was born on 5 November 1854 in Lower Withington.
Sarah married Charles HEWITT, son of James HEWITT, a Cotton Warper and Ellen CHADWICK, both of Manchester, on 10 September 1881. Her marriage certificate gives her father's name as George Henry FODEN, her age as 27 years, her address as 2 Broome Lane, Leveshulme, Charles as being a widower aged 39 years and his job, a Dyer (later became gun maker). So far, I know of only one son George Henry HEWITT, my grandfather, who was born on 29 January 1884 and died on 3 March 1956.
Sarah Ann HEWITT died on 26 June 1919 at 2 Churchill Street, Openshaw; she was survived by her husband.
What I would like to find out is:
When & where her parents were born/christened, married and died.
Details of her siblings, if any.
And finally....a longshot. Any other children of her marriage with Charles Hewitt.
My own roots, although a son of the Manchester HEWITT's, actually lie in the Cheshire village of Prestbury where I was born some 90 years after Sarah in 1945, courtesy one Adolf Hitler!
Thanks very much for any help or information given. In the meantime, I hope the above information may be of value to other researchers.
