What was Alfred's occupation? With such a common name, it is often essential to know that. By the way, in the 1832 poll book, John Smith is a Burgess or Freeman, which implies that his family goes back for some time in Liverpool.
Is the child, Ann, the daughter of Alfred's wife, rather than his own daughter?
Who is Eleanor?
I can look at the Liverpool marriage of Alfred & Eliza Hickey next time I go to Liverpool, but it may not be for a week or so.
