I have been looking at 2 films of Congleton Deeds and papers to see if I can locate any reference to my HANKINSONs but no luck. There were a lot of papers there that might be of use to others though. On the film (FHL film no 1594503) some of the surnames I noted (don't know that I got all of them.) were:- ROBINSON, THOROGOOD, BIRCH, KENNERLEY, COTHAM, WOOD, CHARLESWORTH, BRADWELL, SPENCER (A LOT on these including some sketches of family tree and extracts of wills) POTTS, SNELSON, KNIGHT, SWAIN, LAWTON, OAKES, CLUBBE, SHRIGLEY, ANTROBUS, HARVEY to name the ones I spotted.
From the second film of Congleton deeds and papers (FHL film no: 1594504) here are some of the surnames I came across after a fairly quick scan:-
READE, SANDERSON, GORST?, BROOK, EDONSOR?, Elizabeth KENT's will 1766, Com GORST, Wm. READE, MALBON, SMITH, BOOT. John DORBISHIRE/DARBYSHIRE, Hannah LOWE of Macclesfield, William RIXOR?, Thomas ROWLEY, William SMITH, John WHITFIELD, William BOOT, Samuel STONE surgeon, Elizabeth LOWE, Hannah LOWE intended wife of William READE surgeon and apothecary. (1790ish)

Also on the film were the Poor Rate Assessments for 1812-1814 with a LOT of familiar Congleton surnames(Too many to list). Some street names are given though not full addresses. Also the 1845 Poor Rate Assessments, though it is not very big.
Hope this helps someone.
