There is a baptism record for a George RIGBY, son of Nathaniel and Ellen, at Mottram-in-Longdendale, Cheshire, on 19 August, 1827. With this distinctive father's name, I looked for siblings and found:
James RIGBY, baptised 31 March 1816, at Mottram-in-Longdendale, son of Nathaniel and Nelly (a common variant of Ellen or Eleanor).
and also:
John RIGBY, son of Nathaniel and Nelly, baptised at Hyde Chapel (Presbyterian) on 3 September 1818 (born 13 June 1818)
Thomas RIGBY, son of Nathaniel and Nelly, baptised at Hyde Chapel on 13 November 1821 (born 31 December 1820)
The latter two baptisms are particularly helpful as, in common with many non-conformist registers, the maternal grandparents are mentioned. They are given as James and Mary HAMPSON.
Do you think these could be yours?
