Stephen Massey prepared a will in 1829...the beginning of which states, "I, Stephen Massey, late of Chorley, but now residing in Stockport, in the County of Chester..." Information about his burial on the FamilySearch site indicates that the event of his burial took place in Alderley, Cheshire, England. However, in the Parish Records of Cheshire his "abode" at the time of his burial (October 4, 1873) is listed as Morton.
I understand that Morton is a part of Cheshire County, but I am not sure of the relationship of Morton to Stockport and Alderley. This family seems to have spent most of the time in Wilmslow and Chorley, but in later years lived in Stockport. Most of the early information I have found comes from the Alderley records.
Since I have not visited this area I was wondering if there is someone who might be able to explain how Morton might fit into the picture.
I am as sure as I can be at this point that the Stephen Massey burial described in the Cheshire records is my Stephen Massey; at least the time frame fits perfectly and he is the correct age based on birth information I have found for him.
Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.
