Thank you for the warning. I think I found the right Chorley in the beginning just by dumb luck. But, I am still trying to sort out the counties and the towns. I am sure that one day it will all be very clear and I will wonder why I had trouble.
I am researching a(n) FHL film now that places my Joseph Massey family in Chorley (near Wilmslow) from 1797 when he was baptized (his parents were Stephen and Patience Massey from Chorley) up to at least 1822 when one of his children was baptized.
Joseph and Hannah's first child, a daughter, was baptised in the Dean-Row Chapel, but the other children for whom I have found baptism records were baptized in the Parish of Wilmslow. Would this specifically refer to St. Bartholomew's?
The last three children were baptized elsewhere, with the baptism of the last child taking place in Heaton Norris, Lancashire.
Hannah's parents, if she is, indeed a Wych, were Peter and Anne Wych from Wilmslow.
Of course, this is all still a working theory.
