G'Day Messageboard and thanks Ell for the info. I have tried Chorley in Google maps. I found from historical records that there were 2 places named "Chorley" in Cheshire in the 1830's. I found the information about Chorley in Cheshire from the trial/court record of my gr gr grandfather, James Jupp, at the Chester Records Office when we were in the UK last year. James Jupp worked as a millsright boy before his conviction and it was said that he was late of Chroley in the county of Cheshire. He was in gaol in Chester and his trial was also in Chester, Cheshire. Unfortunately we are away travelling till June and I don't have the copy of the trial with me to give you the exact wording or the names other 2 men who were convicted at the same time as James for the same crime.
Any further assistance from the messageboard would be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers from Gerry Down Under in Australia.
