My mother's paternal grandfather is something of a family mystery - and if you google his name, other people trying to find up what happened to him will also show up.
His name was Charles Stanley Morris, Born in March, Cambridgeshire on 22 October 1876, married to Mabel Martha Tibbett.
Some time between 1901 & 1911, he left his wife (for reasons unknown), with 2 small children, and shows up in the 1911 Census as a visitor at the house of friends in Norfolk.
Beyond this, there is very little that I can find out. I know from someone else's account that he turned up one night at the houses of one of his sisters, and was invovlved in an argument there, before disappearing again, but this appears to be the last information available on him.
His wife occasionally mentioned him, and tended to imply that he had died in the First World War - a fairly believable story at that time. She was never particularly short of money, and lived in a nice house & sent her children to private schools, despite never working that we are aware of.
The only other information on him is that in 1935, his wife indicates her status as widow on a passenger shipping list - so presumably she knew by this time that he had died.
Apart from this though, I can find nothing about him - whether or not he remained in the UK, when he died, where he died, whether he re-married etc.
Any suggestions of where I might be likely to find any further information would be welcomed,
