COCKRELL -- Joyce Ethel Elliott aged 88, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2000. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Cockrell in 1977 and is survived by her daughter Brenda COOK, son-in-law Peter, grandchildren Tracy (Scott) and Bob and greatgrandchildren Miranda and Mackenzie. Joyce was born in Ely, England. Prior to leaving for the West Indies, she became an R.N. which was a source of great pride to her. They were married and lived in Trinidad, Barbados and Antigua where they were committed to missionary work. They returned to England for a few years prior to emigrating to Canada to be with their family. She spent many happy years at Kingsway Court in Burnaby and the last seven years at Cascade Residence 4th Floor at Burnaby Hospital. Her room was a very personal haven where she welcomed staff and friends for cherished visits sharing her passions for knitting, crocheting, antiques, cats, dogs, her great grandchildren and family. Her ability to make the best of any situation made us very proud. At the end of her remarkable life, she has left a lasting impression on all who knew her and she will be sadly missed. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Cascade Residence 4th floor for their exceptional care and to Drs. Cameron and Sing. Also to the friends olds and new whose visits helped broaden her world and made her feel so valued.
Memorial Service to be held at 2:30 on Friday October 13, 2000 at Coquitlam Presbyterian Church, 948 Como Lake Ave., Coquitlam (corner of Como Lake and Blue Mountain). Private family burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gideon Bible Society,
World Vision or the SPCA would be appreciated.
