Classification: Query
Surnames: Clement, Clemens, Clemans
Does any information still exist on his family, other than the link from his daughter through the Sumners?
I come from a Clemans family in Wisconsin that can definitively trace our ancestry back through a Phillip Jr. & Phillip Sr. Clemens (of whatever spelling), probably back then to a Samuel Clemens (of whatever spelling). We know this is not the Samuel Clements from the Haverhill, Mass family that's a direct ancestor of Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens).
There's a marriage record for "our" Samuel dating to 1697 in the Salem, MA area. Then information disappears.
Looking at other records, Augustine Clement had a son Samuel, who had a son also named Samuel, around 1670-1675. I haven't found any other record of this Samuel; but from age and location he's a possible candidate for the Samuel in our line.
So to summarize, I'm looking for any information on Augustine Clement (of Dorchester & Boston Mass, in the 1600's) sons, and their families.
Thanks.
