Hi Pam,
Yes you are right - these are the families I am researching. John was a sailor and was aboard the Tickler on the night of the 1861 Census. I presume he was at sea for 1871 and 1881, but is back in Leoville, St Ouen, married to Rachel in 1891. What I have not been able to prove is whether the Rachel he married, was in fact a Pirouet. I strongly suspect she was - as their children Alfred and John both had Pirouet as their middle names. I am trying to determine if John and Rachel are cousins and was hoping the marriage entry might solve this. But if I am wrong I will be sending lebarboue on a wild goose chase.
