Mr Robb was born at Singapore and spent his early youth in India. He served in the RASC in France from 1939 to 1940 and later in Egypt, North Africa, Palestine and Syria. He has lived in Basildon since 1945 and has contested Basildon Urban Council elections three times without success. He is employed by British Railways as a coach builder and is a committee member of Bradford no1 Branch of the national Union of Railwaymen. He is married and has two children.
A Change of name.
When Mr Robb addressed an open air meeting in Shipley Market Place on Wednesday night he commenced with a personal explanation. My name was Ribilliard he said, but Yorkshire people insisted on cutting it down to a bare minimum, so i have taken steps to alter it to Robb, and it will be in this name that I will contest the General Election.
