Hannah Medder was born at St Heliers circa1834. She married John Jarvis (1830). They, plus 9 surviving children, sailed from Gravesend in 1874 to New Zealand. John (a ropemaker) apparently lived at 28 Hue st, Devonshire lane and Ann st in St Heliers. The ship was called the "Tweed". If anybody knows anything about the 2 families, the area they lived, or the ship, please contact me. Thank you.

Dear Di,
I'm not sure if we have a conncection, but it so happens that my Susannah Medder, from Devon, married Henry Tamblington also from Devon married in Stoke Damerel in 1837. Their first son was William Tamblington was born in St. Heliers in 1838. Then they had their other children in St. Peter's Port, except for one daughter, Anna , who was born in Devon in abt 1849. In 1850, Henry was born. On the 1851 Census, they are living in St. Helier's again. I am trying to find Susannah Medder's parents and siblings, and also the same for Henry Tamblington. Have you found any information that indicates a possible connection between our ancestors? Please email me at tonifila@comcast.net.

Have spoken to my friend Carol Medder in Jersey who seems to be one of the people you may be interested in. If you are on Face book you can contact her. She goes under the name of Caz Medder.

https://www.facebook.com/caz.medder?fref=ts

I am sure she will be able to help you more. Use my name Maleka and she will probably be ok .

Best wishes

Hi Di,
I know this thread is 13 years old but I have just started looking into my family tree. My family is decended from Matilda Clara Jarvis who married James Bristow in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1887.
Her daughter Matilda Louisa Bristow married William John Walker 1908 and my Grandmother Evelyn Scarf Walker was born in 1919. I am now looking into Matilda Merrifield, Hannah Medder's mother if you have any information could you please get in touch.
