Hello:

My name is Tammy Tsai, I am writing this email on behalf of the Tiqui family in Taiwan: Tony, Ricky & Debra. Your message was fowarded to them by one of their friends. I believe they are the Taiwan family you are looking for.

Allow me to briefly introduce your Taiwan family members:

1. Your grandmother, Chiwa Wang Tiqui passed away 1990.

2. Your oldest uncle, Tony Wang, is a happy father of 5 beautiful children.

3. Your 2nd uncle, Ricky Tiqui, has two children.

4. Aunt Debra Tiqui also has 2 children, ages 18 and 16.

Tony has been looking for James Tiqui Jr. for the past many years. Tony remembers that James has 3 children: Rachel, Brandon & Nolan.

They are very happy to receive this message even though it was posted online more than 4 years ago. The family is very pleased about the possibility of contacting you and your family in the near future. This has come as a special Chinese New Year Gift for all of them.

All 3 of them and their families are gathered together tonight and happily reading your message.

Please reply to Tony at your earliest.

Regards,
Tony Wany
Email: tonyshwang29@hotmail.com

I wish it could be so easy just to find my distant relatives in Taiwan and elsewhere. I am also a Huang but i know almost nothing. I have a family book with my father's lineage but I don't know how far it goes back after his grandfather's generation. My father was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan. It was the same place both his parents were born but I've never been there. I am desperate to get my family lineage down as my father's lineage book does not contain the names of women who marry into the family, and neither documents the birth of females in the family nor the children they have whether they be boys or girls. My grandmother's surname was Li/Lee however you spell it. I still have known relatives residing in Taiwan but outside my father's generation i do not know the rest before his generation. this is so hard! not only because the romanization of chinese names are not the same if the name written in romanization and when actually written in chinese they look like separate names with nothing in common except the surname. can we trade information or discuss?

Since my grandfather passed away last October, I've had an itch to know who I am.

My dad's side of the family is from Fuzhou, Fujian, and my grandfather was a shoemaker name Lien Ko Feng (spelling?) that imigrated to Taiwan, where I believe he had a restaurant, then a shoe store, and passed away last year at around 80. I am not sure as to where he met my grandmother(mainland or taiwan), but she was a Chen, but had been adopted. She is currently about 71. I remember hearing when I was younger that the Lien Clan of Fuzhou was somehow associate with the Oyan(oyang?) Clan.

My mother's side of the family is from Taiwan, my maternal grandfather's last name was Chan(Zhan) and my grandmother's maiden name was Chung(Zhong, Jung) and either or both was Hakka. my grandfather passed away in 1988 and my grandmother was a teacher in thailand and japan until she retired back to Taiwan. she is around 77?

Any kind of information would be helpful!! thank you!

I'm interested in the name CHUANG.
.
How does and English speaking American do genealogical research in Taiwan if I can't speak or read the language?
.
Sometimes the name sounds like TRUONG.
.
Is CHUANG connected to CHANG or CHONG?
.
Do Chinese only trace male lines? Does this mean that every one only has one recorded line of descent?
.
I've heard of a family naming pattern that gave the sons or first sons in each suceeding generation a middle name that was the next word or character in a poem.
Merchant House of Julius Mannich Co., Tung-Hsin Yang-Hang

I am searching for information about Julius Mannich of the Merchant House of Julius Mannich & Co., located in Taiwan. Julius was a German businessman specializing in camphor and sugar foreign trade, and boat transportation. He built this Merchant House structure starting in 1875, and it is used today as a foreign trade museum.

He apparently went to Taiwan early in Guang-Shiuh, which is not familiar to me. Does this relate to a particular year?

My goal is to find out when Julius went to Taiwan, where he came from specifically (what part of Germany?), and then what happened to Julius. He may be my direct ancestor who died in 1885 on a large tract of property he owned on the harbor near Mobile, Alabama, in the United States.

If you can supply ANY information on Julius or his company, or advise how I can get in touch with this museum, I would be most appreciative. My email is buschmnn@bellsouth.net.

Thank you.

My father , Allen Leon Bohler, was in the Air Force and was stationed in Taiwan from June 1967 to March 1968. He returned to Taiwan in July 1969 and stayed until Oct 1971. While in Taiwan, he met a woman and married her. The marriage probably occurred between 1967-1968. During their marriage, she adopted his illegitimate son.

When he left Taiwan, he left his family. His son was probably born in 1972. I am interested in finding anything about this family.

I lived in Taiwan for two years. While there I moved alot and lived in many different cities.

From what I understand, the main US base in Taiwan was in Tainan. It was also while I was there I found the largest concentration of people of mixed race in the south.

The army also might have a record of the marrage.

Chinese Benning Family

I am searching for descendants of Chinese-American children born in Hong Kong in the 1880's. Annie Benning, Thomas, George and others were the children of Augustus and Thomas Theodore Benning of Georgia, USA. Gus and Thomas Theodore Benning were ship's captains in China in the mid to late 19th century. After his brother died, Gus returned to Georgia and married his cousin. The children remained in China and were boarded at a Church School. One child, Annie Benning became a nurse and eventually moved to Formosa. Any children she had could still be alive. Her brother Thomas did come to the USA in the 1930's. I would like to hear from descendants of any Benning children mentioned above.
