Hello Joke and Ronnie
Looking forward to hearing more Joke about your von Hagts when you can send it.Ronnie, we have tried to find the connections but it has been difficult. I have never known my grandparents or the other family members beyond my mothers sisters. I am lucky in that the information on my grt grandfather and 'above' is written in the Dutch Burgher Union Journals. I was very surprised when I first came across them.
It seems that a lot of the information that is unknown is about the other male members of the family, I don't know why that is. I would love to be able to piece together our family tree.
My grandmother also was interned by the Japanese and died in 1946. I don't know if she left Sime Rd camp. My mother who is in her eighties now does not remember much. She says the memories were too painful, which I do understand. Also too, my mother had only one brother who never married so the von Hagt name ended with him for us.
I am married and have a son and a daughter. Last year we went to Singapore to give them a perspective of our family history. I am hoping to travel to Malaya and Sri Lanka in the next couple of years. I was born in 1954.
Take care both of you and keep in touch,
Kind regards, Fiona
