I am a Roman Catholic Malaysian. My family tree is in:
www.defonseka.com, under SRL Defonseka. I am trying to trace the family tree of my mother, who was Kaltheen Mary Benzie and of my husband, who is a Wijasuriya.
My mother came with my father to Malaysia in the 1930's and her father George Benzie (I think) was born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1853, and went to Sri Lanka when he was 21, to work in the tea and coffee plantations - he became Manager of the Liptons Ltd, Ceylon and of the Scottish Cooperative company. He became a resident of Kandy and when he died, his funeral was held in the Scots Kirk.
My husband's grandfather came to Malaysia from Sri alnka and worked in the Railways.
