my grt grt grandmother was eliza trowells. My grandmother (florence seel nee wheeler and grandaughter of alexandra letitia bruce)told me that her grandmothther was jewish also that she used to speak some french. Eliza is a bit of a mystery... I know this is a long shot but in the 1841 census there is girl called esther isaacs born 1827 in india. in that census she is listed in what seems to be a school. I can find no trace of her after that. Also in the 1841 census is eliza
trowells. Is it possible that she was adopted and/or changed
her name. I'd love others thoughts on this.Julie (BEJULZ)
