Betty Jean, Alfred Henry Lindop joined Army 28 March 1879, joined 1st batt Dublin Fusiliers 29 Sept 1880. Shows as Lt in 1883/4 Ceylon Directory.
He could have been in India before as the Dublin Fusiliers was formed from the amalgamation of the Royal Bombay and Royal Madras Rgts about this time.{102nd and 103rd Regts}
He is shown as a Major in the Army Pay Dept going to the Boer War in 1900. The National Archives at Kew should have more information on him. There is also a website for the Dublin Fusiliers which may be able to help you. There is also an Anglo Boer War website with the shipping details etc. Cheers, Larry&Coreen in Australia
