Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me find any information on my Great Grandparents. I've learn what I could from my grandmother but, unfortunately, she lost a lot of information when she had her stroke a couple years back. I'm now trying to get into my family history. From what I learned a little bit from my other family members is that my great grandmother's name was Marfa Egorova(maiden name), translated in Russian as Марфа Егоровна. I do not know when/where she was born but I do know she died sometime in the year 1981 since my father recalls what his age was when he heard his grandmother, whom he never met, passed away. I also know she may have passed away somewhere in Kazakhstan since I have distant family there. I also know that, at some point in her life, she did live a part of Ukraine since that where my grandmother was born and lived until the Germans came and took her and a bunch of Ukraine girls during World War II and took my grandmother to Austria. I only know a little about my great grandfather. His name was Feodor and the last name might be Karabotov since my grandmother claims that was her maiden name but we've also heard other last name. Unfortunately, my grandmother only met him once and that was when she was 3 and never saw him again. We do not know what happened to him or anything at all of him. My great grandmother did re-marry and had two more children. A boy, Anatoli, and a girl, Lilliya, who are both deceased but we have made contact with Lilliya's family through out the years.
You may question why I'm putting this in the Russian board since my family came from a part of Ukraine but my grandmother considers herself Russian and, apparently, so did her family. She has said that her birth certificate says she is Russian so, I thought, maybe, the information I'm looking for is somewhere in Russia. I know this may seem complicated and long but I'm really hoping to find more on my father's family since I've know little about them so if anyone out there can help me find some, that would be great.
