Origins of shortened last name Krubert (Jaroslav or Jarolav)

Hello, I am looking for more information on my maternal great-grandfather's line. They are from Russia, specifically Dubris (?). The last name is Krubert - does anyone know what that is shortened from? Also, I believe his given name is Jaroslav or Jarolav which turned into Jerry (may be Wladislaw as well, but I believe that would translate to Walter).

My only other information on him is that he was born in 1887 in Russia and served in the last Tzar's army before immigrating to the U.S. in 1910. He married August once in the U.S. (from Bohemia, Czechoslovakia).

If anyone has any information, it would be great to hear from you!
