My husband's grandfather, Morris Weinberg, arrived in the U.S. on May 15, 1893 with wife Celia (possibly Fader) and maybe 2-3 small children. This date was on his Declaration of Intent and Naturalization Papers. The only other facts we know is he was Jewish and came from Russia. All other papers give his place of birth as Russia, no town, province, area...just Russia. We haven't found the ship he came on yet. The synagogue records for Chicago where he lived do not contain any information on him. The Russians to America books have not done 1893 yet but that is a possibility for new info in the future. I would appreciate any new insights, leads, ideas of where to look next.
