How did you located passenger ship arrival records? I've been trying to track some down to find out when my family came to the U.S. from the Philippines. They too would have came in to Vancouver, B.C. or Seattle.

Rieta Family from Magasingal, Ilocos Sur

Hi, my name is Patricia Rieta. My father, Felix Rieta, emigrated to Hawaii in the early 1920's to work on a sugar cane plantation. In 1927 he went to California and resided in San Diego County until the 1940's. He came to California from Hawaii with a cousin named Mateo Rieta. From the 1950's forward he lived in the San Joaquin Valley of California, moving about as a migrant farmworker. I don't know much about my father's family, having never lived with him. Any information you are able to provide me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

CORPUZ family from Ilocos Sur, Philippines

I'm looking for information regarding the family of Filomeno A. Corpuz, born about 1901. My research indicates his parents are Martin Corpuz and Leoncia (Aguino or Aquino). My research also indicates he married Porpetua Filler, daughter of Diego Filler and Narcisa Aquino, on or about February 4, 1924 in Lapog, Ilocos Sur.

He immigrated to the U.S. without Porpetua. I've located two passenger ship arrival records listing a Filomeno A. Corpuz arriving in Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle, Washington in the early 1930's.

It appears he had a sister, Ma. Salud Corpuz, who married Ponciano L. Martino (or Martinez) on or about March 19, 1922. Ponciano's parents are listed as Leonicio Martinez and Candida Garcia. Most likely the marriage record is incorrect regarding Ponciano's last name with "Martinez" being the correct surname.

In the U.S., the first name "Filomeno" became "Philomeno" and the last name became "Corpus".

I located a military record indicating he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1940's.

He became a barber and lived in Oxnard, Ventura County, California from approximately 1943-1944 until he returned to the Philippines about 1978.

The last information I have is he resided in Manila after returning to the Philippines. He died about 1992.

Anyone with information regarding the above, or whose research crosses with mine, please contact me.

Thank you.

ILOCOS SUR - PANGASINAN - MANILA

I am looking for any information about the Taepan or Taipan family in/around these areas. One connection is a union between Gavino Taepan (Taipan) and Damiana Navarro. I don't have the date of the union however Gavino was b. 1890 and d. 1925 while Damiana (I believe) was alive until 1970.

Another name within this line is Leonora Taepan; she took care of my grandmother Damiana until she passed away.

I found 2 children who died in Bani, Pangasinan but parents' names were not listed.

Also, there was a Juan Taepan (Taipan) who married a Monica Torda (this is as close as I could come to translating the handwriting); the union took place in Manila (can't remember the year and can't find the record now).

Any input you have would be appreciated.

Aloha!
