I am syed asif abbas naqvi . My ancestors belong to a area called kaspura ,near akbarpur , district -ambedkarnagar , uttar pradesh , india
My dad father name was liaqat hussain and his father name was tajammul hussain and they belong to the origin of mir fazil baba as per information from the family who came here and stayed in this area.
These people were called malik for the reasons not known they had lots of land in this area .
Liaqakat hussain my dads father infomed as that their descendants have lineage of hazrat naki alesalam and their ancestry is same . But the villagers say that we are malik and not syed .
Plz help me as to origin and family history.

dear anne - i'm looking out for ellen but got a little sidetracked from farmer name. here goes - alice sabina was the daughter of mary anne delmedick born 1808. before she married stephens she was married and widowed to hugh carlisle - india office records show she was married 1823 and widowed in 1834 to carlisle - she was from the L.O.S -LOWER ORPHAN SCHOOL CALCUTTA- LOWER FOR CHILDREN OF THE LOWER RANKS AND UPPER FOR HIGH OFFICERS -her father was george delmedick sgt,artillary-she married stephens in chunar,bengal and first married to carlisle in Dum Dum,bengal -she died mary anne stephens in 1868 in Delhi/eileen

small world isn't it - my father toldme thomas married a person from bangalore so it is your husbands father whom my father was referring to as a cousin in lahore .george my grandfather was born in 1896 so he well remembered his grandmother alice - i know about the cousin because my father and his mother spent time in the hills leaving george behind in lahore - i asked my dad wasn't george lonely without family of his own - then he mentioned the cousin - it all comes back to me now - clearly he said this cousin was younger to my grandfather - amazing i even recall my father at the table telling me all of this and he did mention (you have reminded me by the way )about ink and the stephens - he had no access to computers or libraries so he must have been told by his father-right so they all knew each other in lahore - my goodness he told me everything what you have mentioned about the cousin's first and second wife - you can see my dad told me everything and i listened well- i quizzed him about each and every member of the family

you have to keep on -you've reached a slight dead end -you don't know ellens mother -ellen may have been born in uk and she may not have died in india - she was just 50 when her husband died and she had children so may have moved further afield - let us see it will be interesting in the end.eileen

not confusing - only tricky part is typing the family name on google and you'll get pictures of farmers - you have to type a full name - i'll lookout out for ellen cos i'm curious as to where she died - these are ongoing projects so have to try again and again.eileen

Further to my previous post I realized today I had given you incorrect information. Frederick William Farmer married Ellen Holmes (Born 1877) Following his death she married Charles henry Orman 0n 6th March 1912 In Jhansi Bengal (source Family search .org)
Nellie Farmer who died in Dehra Dun is I believe the wife of an Older Brother Christopher Alfred Farmer born 1865

Eileen Thomas Sampson Farmer arrived in India 1854 with artillery on Royal George. He was born in Bermondsey area of London . One of a large family.Prior to enlisting he was a leather worker .
He transferred to Ordinance in India. He married A widower Annie Webb who died in 1858 . He married Alice Sabina Stephens aged 17 in 1860 they had 7 children 6 survived into adulthood. He died 1873 in Cawnpore when his youngest son Thomas Stephens Farmer was just one year old . Alice and Thomas Sampson Farmer were my husbands great grandparents
Their grandson Thomas Henry Frederick Farmer my husbands father THF Farmer's wife Hazel died in Dec 1936 in Lahore. He married Mary in 1938 .Served in RIASC in North Africa and Erithrea 1939 ..1943 awarded the MC . On return to Lahore he was divorced. He Married Betty in Bangalore in 1945 He left India in May 1947,and lived in Uk until 1978 when they went to live in New Zealand where he died the following Year.
Nelly(Ellen Beatrice Trout) Born 1879 married Thomas stephens farmer in Lahore in 1889
Ellen Beatrice was the daughter of henry Trout but we have no idea where she was born .

i'll keep looking for you for ellen (nellie) the name may come up later. george roberts died just a year after marrying alice leaving her with one more child !!!.my father told me his father george in lahore had a cousin wh0m he used to visit - on his mother maud's side - she had no other family except all the Farmers - probably the cousin in the photo - i do remember my father telling me all the children were called thomas of thomas sampson - we thought that was amusing - i asked how would they know which one they were calling - he said they used to call the first and second name together eg ; thomas henry, thomas ?my dad knew a lot about his family --just for the record - if you type on google karen evennett (author) she is also a great great grandaughter of alice sabina (from maud roberts) any news on Farmer i'll let you know - what about your family (any interesting names?) regards eileen

i assume they were close cos maud was just a year younger to thomas stephens - i also imagine the Farmer family somehow helped maud roberts - she could not have looked after her own 6 children in lahore alone and after her mother died in 1912 - my grandfather age 16 and the youngest age 6 - must have had help from the Farmer side of the family --i'll lookout for Trout name for you - EILEEN if you look at public photos here and type Farmer Lahore you'll see a photo of thomas henry Farmer as bestman at a wedding in lahore 1936

That is really helpful. Alice may have lived with Thomas Stephens Farmer in Lahore . He was living in Lahore from before 1907 onwards. He died in 1927 ... he was Superintendant of the reformatory farms in Burewalla. We are still searching for his wife Nellie(Ellen Beatrice Trout) death we have just one picture which says she was still alive in 1941. They had a daughter Beatrice Maud Farmer .. so we can assume Your Maud Roberts and her half family were close

familysearch.org - and this has been very recently put there because it was not there before - alice sabina roberts died 6 apr 1912 lahore age 69 birth 1943 - i assume she was living with one of her children (Farmer)i also think alice might have been a good mother since there are no infant deaths i have seen as of yet. i am still searching where maud died --maybe lahore too - maud's son George Evennette (my grandfather)was in the lahore high court till 1953. i asked my dad why maud parted with her husband on a trip to england in 1910 bringing all 6 kids back to india - he said maud had a lot of half brothers and sisters (Farmer) and that alices family had been in india for a long time- have you used familysearch.org - helpful - i'll keep coming back to you here with more as i find it/eileen

Your info re Alice Stephens is helpful . It has previously been suggested by a relative that She was related to The Stephens family who made their name in UK for Ink producing. In my research a few years ago I noted that one of the witnesses to Alice (stephens) Farmer's marriage was John H Farmer who I assumed was her son. Do you have a date for her death?

anne - i don't know much either - i recognised the farmer names on familysearch.org and i recalled my father telling me alice was a mrs farmer with several small childen to look after that she married george roberts - - maud was the only child of alice and george before he died and i don't even know how or where he died- my dad toldme maud had a big family (on her mothers side)meaning all the Farmer children. ALICE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF christopher stephens born in dinapore and mary ann delmedick or carlisle- my father was born in lahore but shifted to rhodesia after 1947 -he died in 2oo5 and sadly he knew a lot which is why i am able to pick out names from ancestry sites like thomas farmer - so i am the great great granddaughter of alice sabina stephens but married to roberts- i guess your husbands father never spoke much of his family because perhaps he did not know much since thomas stephens was a baby when his father died /eileen

My husbands Great Grandmother was Alice S Stephens.. Her first marriage was to Thomas Sampson Farmer(widower)in Cawnpore 1860 who died of TB Feb 1873 in Cawnpore.
Their son Thomas Stephens Farmer Born March 1872 was my husbands grandfather . He died in (Cardiac problems) Lahore in 1929. His son Thomas Henry Frederick Farmer RIASC MC born 1907 My husbands father came to Uk in 1947 He died in Auckland New Zealand in 1979.
he never spoke of his family and our records have been compiled after his death by visiting the British Library India Office recorda.Any further details would be greatly appreciated

I went to Kingston Technical High School with an Angela Mangaroo. She was one of the first girls in the school's history to do engineering. She was very good friends with one of her classmates Herman Ming who works for the Seventh Day Adventist headquarters in Mandeville in the parish of Manchester. I lost contact with her since she (if it's the same person) she left school in 1970.
Sadly enough, one of the other girls she did engineering with died yesterday 1/22/2013 in Florida. Her name is Dorothy Blair married to Newton Murray a fellow schoolmate.
That's all I can share.

re my post earlier this am I have now found the copy I took of the relevant info re Frederick William Farmer he died at Muree 27th May 1900 aged 31 he was assistant surgeon in ISMD he was buried on 28th May

Thomas Sampson Farmer married Alice (Sabine )Stephens April 24th 1860 in Cawnpore. Their son Our ancestor Thomas Stephens Farmer was born in Cawnpore March 6th 1872. Thomas Sampson Farmer died the following year of TB (consumption).Alice Stephens Farmer (widow ) remarried George Roberts in 1874 in Rawalpindee. witness John Henry Farmer
Thomas Stephens Farmer married Ellen Beatrice Trout in 1898 and their son Thomas Henry Stephens Farmer MC born 1907 in Lahore is my deceased father in law . In trying to trace the death records of his mother we found Nellie Farmer aged 88 widow of major Farmer IMD who died in Dehra Dun on 9th July 1942 of Senility. We excluded her as our relative who would have been 63 in 1942 I seem to recall when searching in the British Library that Frederick Farmer was in the IMD and died just before his son was born. We did all our research by visiting the British library in person numerous times between 2006 and 2010. It is labourious trawling through the records but we managed to fill in quite a few gaps

Frederick and ellen had a daughter called Marjory Gladys Farmer b 5 June 1897 in Murree Bengal and of course Leslie Frederick William too!!!

My name is Suryanshi Nayyar and I am currently enrolled in a college course regarding genealogy. My parents moved here in May 2011, to Longmeadow, Massachutsetts. Before that we lived in Sydney, Australia and before that they lived in Chandigarh, Punjab in India until 1993. Since there are not many records of my family online and none in american records, I am having some problems finding information about my family, particularly on my maternal side. My mother's name is Neeta NAYYAR and my father's name is Jiwan Sat NAYYAR. My paternal grandfather's name is Sat Pal NAYYAR and he was born on 2 January, 1936 in Kunja, Pakistan. My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Rag MARWAH and she was born on 7 April, 1942 in Kunja, Pakistan. They were both born in the same village in Pakistan and were married in 1961 in Krukshetra, India. My maternal grandfather's name is Rajinder Kumar BHANOT and he was born on 1 March, 1938 in Jhang Manghiaha, Pakistan. My maternal grandmother's name is Usha PATHAK and was born on 15 July, 1940 in Lahor, Pakistan. They were married in 1961. Both sets of my grandparents migrated to India after India and Pakistan separated.
I am particularily interested in my great grandfather, my mom's mom's father. However I do not know his name, but his last name was PATHAK. I knew that he fought in World War I and World War II. I thought that there might be some war records of him.
I would also be interested in information about my great grandfather, my dad's dad's father. His name was Naranjandas NAYYAR. I know that he also fought in World War II.
Any information about my family would be greatly appreciated. Some other key words are NAYYAR, BHANOT, PATHAK, MARWAH

He remembers that your father was a teacher and had passed away many years ago.

assalamoalaikum, i am trying to trace my family lineage from hazrat Ali's descendants from his sec.nd wife Hazrat Fatima Kalabia:1.Hazrat Abdullah,2.Hazrat Hasan,3.Hazrat Hamzah,4.HazratAli,5.Hazrat Mohammad (286 hijri)during the period of Hazrat Imam Raza at IRAN,his descendants joined the army of Nadir Shah Durrani and when he attacked India, they fought with him and later settled in India.Kindly let me know the descendants from Hazrat Mohammad 286 hijri.May Allah bless those who hely in the cause.Thanks and regards.ARSHAD.

Did you find any information on your Ullah family. I ave some on a Shaikh Rahmatullah who married a welsh girl in 1902 and had 4 children here before he returned to Lahore. He was a leading businessman and a Religeous leader as well.
