Need Help finding information on Sato family

How do you find out information from Japan on a family?

I know that my husband's grandfather is Arthur Sato.

His father's name is something like Masao or Masozo Sato born about 1865 and lived in NY. We were told by many family members that Masao(?) was from a royal or noble family but that's all they knew.
He came over here in the 1890's but have not found the record yet. He did own a large piece of land in NY when he settled here, but lost it somehow to the state.
A friend that is from China said that the first name can actually give you the town of origin and then the house, but I would like to find out everything I can: his ancestors, his correct spelling, if there is a crest, any siblings, etc. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am looking for any information about the family ancestors and history of Masuzo and Ichi Hagita in Tokyo or Chiba. Their children are Hagima, Minoru, Mariko, Tokie, and a half-brother Kurando. I'm a friend of Tokie (Hagita) Spitz. She married Jim Spitz an American Army soldier after WWII. I have some information that Masuzo Hagita was an engineer and may have been an inventor of a pump. I know the family left Tokyo and moved to Chiba during or after WWII, and that they have a family burial plot there, but I'm not sure of the exact location. Seeking information on the whereabouts of the family of Seiichi HONMA and Chiyo KAWAMOTO. They had 6 children: Sadayo HONMA born 1929-1932, Kazuo HONMA born 1935?, Emiko HONMA born June 9, 1939, Yoshimitsu HONMA born 1942, Masako HONMA born 1945, unknown HONMA female born somewhere between 1929 and 1939 and died in infancy. Seiichi made charcoal in Shimani Prefecture until 1947 at which time he moved the family to Nishi-Ube in Yamaguchi Prefecture. When Chiyo died he moved to Ube. Seiichi HONMA had 1 sister. Chiyo KAWAMOTO had 3 sisters and 1 brother. Emiko HONMA married Richard W. JAMES, US NAVY and left Japan for Washington state in 1963. Emiko remembers an aunt on mother's (Chiyo) side, a Mrs. SANADA who had 4 children: Yukio SANADA, Hidekatsu SANADA, 1 male name unknown, 1 female name unknown. Sadayo HONMA was married and had 1 son in 1963. Kazuyo HONMA was married and had 1 daughter in 1963. He worked as a crane operator for a construction company and lived in Nagoya. Any information about the above will be deeply appreciated. Thank You.
