Thank you very much for your message regarding Matsunaga Shigeru(Shigeo), and Momoe. I just found your message on the internet when randomly typing in “Matsunaga Shigeo,” and we are so glad to know that you have been looking for us. To tell you the truth, my mom and I went to Hilo in 1997 and tried to look for some clues where to find our relatives. I also asked my History teacher in UH who studied about Japanese Immigrant and had an access to the Immigrant Name List, but we could not find you.

I am Miyuki, and Shigeo’s granddaughter residing in Honolulu. According to my mom, she has met Aki-san when she visited Shigeo’s family in Nagasaki………”after Seikichi passing away, Momoe married to Tanegoro from Saga and lived in Hilo Hawaii. They have 3 children: Shigeo, Akie, and Yodomu. Aki-san owned a hotel by the beach in Hilo and has 3 (?)children…. Yodomu-san(only son from Tanegoro) participated in the War and died in Korea. “

My mom also told me that Shigeo was sent to Japan for education by his parents, but he got stuck in Nagasaki because Japan already participated in the War. Shigeo married to Tsuru(my grandmother, died at 94) and has 5 children: Shigemi(died at 82 last year), Michiko(80, my mom lives in Kumamoto), Aiko(77, lives in Kumamoto), Minoru(died at 10 in Sasebo), Kaoru(lives in Tokyo).

Anyway, Shigeo died at 83 in 1985, but we are still eager to know about your family members. Please let us know via email, sakura20_07@yahoo.com. My mom lives in Kumamoto City with my father, and I have lived in Honolulu since 1986.
We look forward to hearing from you soon !!
Thank you again.

Miyuki Kajiyama
