It has been many years since I last posted and I have found my mother's sister in Shirojiri. After the earthquake and tsunami hit I contacted the city hall of Shirojiri to make sure they were okay.
A wonderful person called from the city hall to my aunt and then sent me an email with her address and telephone number.
I did so appreciated your reply, but became busy and alas,
I forgot to reply back to you.
I am trying to locate my moms youngest sister and her family. Shigeko and her husband Izumi Yoshie. Their house was a little ways from the station and their house was surrounded on three sides with a vineyard. I believe they rented this house out after buying another one. They have two sons Chihero and Tomaki (not sure if spelling is correct. Chihiro is now married and not sure where he lives. Uncle Izumi worked in a place where special rocks were found (some were bluish purple and looked like they had crystals in them). Any help would be appreciated.

I may be posting in the wrong area, but I am trying to locate any info on my grandmothers family. Her name was Tamaki Yoshie. She married into the Yzquierdo family, moved to Tokyo, then Michigan. I know she had at least one older sister and a brother. She and her sister both had small pox when they were younger. Her brother is/was a police officer and took the last name of his wife (which I do not know). Her mothers name was Tamaki Midori.

Need Help finding information on Sato family

How do you find out information from Japan on a family?

I know that my husband's grandfather is Arthur Sato.

His father's name is something like Masao or Masozo Sato born about 1865 and lived in NY. We were told by many family members that Masao(?) was from a royal or noble family but that's all they knew.
He came over here in the 1890's but have not found the record yet. He did own a large piece of land in NY when he settled here, but lost it somehow to the state.
A friend that is from China said that the first name can actually give you the town of origin and then the house, but I would like to find out everything I can: his ancestors, his correct spelling, if there is a crest, any siblings, etc. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

1910 census http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1910USCenIndex...

1920 Census http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1920usfedcen&a......
Hello. Does anyone know how to look up records of Japanese military men who were in China in the early 1940's? My Japanese grandfather met and married my Chinese grandmother while he was in China in the early 1940's (before 1943). Somehow they got separated during the war and never found each other again. Where can I look up the record of Japanese men who went to China during World War 2? I would like to find my grandfather or at least find out where in Japan was he originally from. Thank you.

First of all, where was Shirojiri? Which prefecture? Which city?

If you have their address in Japanese, scan it and upload here or send it to me by e-mail. I can read Japanese. Even if your aunt and uncle don't live there anymore, you can at least get the idea where they lived.

Do you know names of your aunt and uncle in Japanese?
We don't use English alphabets to record our names.

There are some possible Kanji for one sound. I can think of at least two sets of different characters for the name of "Yoshie".

"Chihedo" doesn't sound like Japanese name.

Did your mother have Japanese "Koseki" with her?

Japanese family registration is not open to the public. If you don't know the exact registered address of your mother, it's difficult to get information of her family.
Ozawa and Yoshie Families

I have been trying to locate my Aunt and Uncle. I believe the train station in which we got off of was in Shirojiri (not sure of spelling). They are Shigeko and Izumi Yoshie (with Yoshie being the last name-I think). It has been many years since my mothers death and that was the last time I was able to talk to them. I have tried writing, but apparently the last known address my mother had was not correct. They have two sons Chihedo and Tamaki (not sure the spelling is correct for their names). I have not seen any of them since 1976. I would love to hear from someone who could help me relocate my mothers family. My mother's maiden name was Ozawa.
Judy

I am very familiar with the area you refer to. I worked at a school there and explored the area on bike and on foot. Chikuma is named for the Chikuma river running through it. It was incorporated into Nagano city within the last ten years or so. The area is famous for the beauty of their apricot orchards when in blossom, and for the taste of the fruit which they produce.

Can you speak, read/write Japanese? Do you or anyone else have contact with the remaining family in Japan?

(I am quite sure I wrote a lengthy response to this query when it was first posted, but I lost what I wrote before being able to post it.)

Spencer

Just fooling around with the net and spotted your note.
My mother was Shigeko Izumi. She has a sister who is married to a Yoshie and I was born as Shigemi. My mothers people are from Matsuyama. I was born in Kure,Shikoku. She was from a family of 9. I think 2 brother and five girls..Goodluck....I believe that Izumi is quite a common name. I believe my grandparents were in their 90's when they passed away.
Kath

I know very little about her life before I was born. I know that she married my father, an American soldier, in 1957 and then emigrated to the U.S. in 1958. She was never able to return to Japan. About 15 years ago I had to get some paper for her from the Japanese Embassy in Washington, D.C. It had her family tree on it. My mother died two years ago never being able to fulfil an obligation she felt she had to put flowers on her father's grave. I would like to fulfil that obligation for her some day. Unfortunately, my father has disposed of all of my mother's records and I do not even know with certainty what her father's name was. Her father raised her by himself. She never met her mother. I know she had an aunt and cousin that she wrote to when I was a child. I do not know their names. I have no idea where to begin this search.

Trying to Find info on Miyoko Miyabayashi from Matsumoto City

According to my birth records, my mother, Miyoko Miyabayashi was born on 13 March 1927 in Mathumoto City, Naganoken, Japan (possible misspelling for Matsumoto???). I know she was an only child whose father's name was Yoshi. She did not know her mother.

My mother left Japan in 1958 and was never able to return to Japan. Her father died sometime in the early 1960s. My mother always felt that she needed to go back to Japan at least once to put flowers on her father's grave. Two years ago my mother died without ever being able to fulfil that obligation. I would like to do this for her. Unfortunately, I have no information about her family.

I know she had an aunt and cousin that she wrote to when I was young. Is there anyway I can find out who these people are? I have no experience researching geneology. Any guidence would be greatly appreciated.

Masuzo Hagita

I am looking for any information about the family ancestors and history of Masuzo and Ichi Hagita in Tokyo or Chiba. Their children are Hagima, Minoru, Mariko, Tokie, and a half-brother Kurando. I'm a friend of Tokie (Hagita) Spitz. She married Jim Spitz an American Army soldier after WWII. I have some information that Masuzo Hagita was an engineer and may have been an inventor of a pump. I know the family left Tokyo and moved to Chiba during or after WWII, and that they have a family burial plot there, but I'm not sure of the exact location. Please contact me with any information you may have regarding this family, and how I may contact any living relatives. I live in California in the United States, and my email is: it3fittro@yahoo.com. Thank you. Gary
