I'm trying to find about the genealogy of Katō Kiyomasa, my grandfather assured me that our family is a descendent of the Katō clan. But there is no record about Katō Kiyomasa's son, that complicates any search about the family tree. If you get any new information I will be glad to hear it. Good luck.

Need Help finding information on Sato family

How do you find out information from Japan on a family?

I know that my husband's grandfather is Arthur Sato.

His father's name is something like Masao or Masozo Sato born about 1865 and lived in NY. We were told by many family members that Masao(?) was from a royal or noble family but that's all they knew.
He came over here in the 1890's but have not found the record yet. He did own a large piece of land in NY when he settled here, but lost it somehow to the state.
A friend that is from China said that the first name can actually give you the town of origin and then the house, but I would like to find out everything I can: his ancestors, his correct spelling, if there is a crest, any siblings, etc. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

1910 census http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1910USCenIndex...

1920 Census http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1920usfedcen&a......
Tracing my family roots

I am trying to find information about my great-great grandmother Masu. She was born May 7, 1858 I believe in Kyoto and was married to Fukutaro Takaratsu. She is a direct descendant of Kato Kiyomasa. The family history we know only by word of mouth is that Masu's maiden name was Zeits/Zeitz? This is obviously a caucasian name. Can anyone explain this? This has been a puzzle to my family for at least 75 years. We would greatly appreciate any information.

With sincere appreciation,
Sharon Heath

Not sure if your relatives are related to mine. I really don't know much about Teru. I was adopted in 1958 and was told she was born around 1928. I contacted the Japanese Embassy and they were able to locate her registry which indicated she is deceased. It did state a relative reported her death (a brother) but nothing else was noted. He too still lives in Kyoto. Other than that I'm in the blind...

Sakamoto Family in Japan

Re: Sakamoto Family Kobe Area

I am looking for relatives in Japan. I think they were from Kobe. Their last name is Sakamoto (not sure on spelling). Two brothers at the approx. age of 16, Henry and Harry Sakamoto, (might of been twins) moved to Hawaii in the early 1900's from Kobe (could be wrong about location). After a few years, my great grandfather moved to Alaska (Harry) where he married my great grandmother in Juneau and worked in the gold mines. My grandmother (Harry's daughter) visited her relatives in Tokyo when she was nineteen but cannot remember names, etc...
She met in the Toyko airport for about 6 hours with her mother in law (think her name was Cheyoko) and her sister-in-law (Alice?) and other relatives. The other brother (Henry) stayed in Hawaii and married a Japanese American woman. I would love to locate any relatives in Japan or Hawaii.
Thank you,
Naomi

Masuzo Hagita

I am looking for any information about the family ancestors and history of Masuzo and Ichi Hagita in Tokyo or Chiba. Their children are Hagima, Minoru, Mariko, Tokie, and a half-brother Kurando. I'm a friend of Tokie (Hagita) Spitz. She married Jim Spitz an American Army soldier after WWII. I have some information that Masuzo Hagita was an engineer and may have been an inventor of a pump. I know the family left Tokyo and moved to Chiba during or after WWII, and that they have a family burial plot there, but I'm not sure of the exact location. Please contact me with any information you may have regarding this family, and how I may contact any living relatives. I live in California in the United States, and my email is: it3fittro@yahoo.com. Thank you. Gary

Yamasura-clan

My name is Kintou Yamasura. My family geneology seems to be lost somewhere in Japan. My family was the greatest warriors in Japan as I was told. And Askikaga Yoshimitsu was my 39th Great-Grandfather. His real last name was Yamasura but my family told me that he changed it. Could you please help me to find more of the Yamasura-clan history, it could be a big break through for Japan. Thank you.
~Kintou Yamasura

Trying to find my ancestors

I am trying to trace my family history. My great grandparents were born in Japan in the late 1800-early 1900's. My great grandfather, Kuwata Tokusaburo, was born in Hiroshima and went to North America in the 1900's landing in San Fransico and moving up into Canada. My great grandmother, Yoneda Kinu, arrived in Canada on May 10th, 1911 as Kuwata-san's "picture bride" and they were married the next day.

I am trying to trace their roots and any family. I am currently residing in Aboshi-ku, Himeji-shi, Japan and am hoping to find out some information while I am here. If you know of any way that I might find information or can help me track down my great grandfather or great grandmother I would be great appreciative.

Thank you for your time and help.

Warm regards,
Patrick Jay
