Thank you very much for that information. Fortunately I already have my grandfather's koseki but, we don't have my grandmother's koseki. she was born in Hawaii like my grandfather. Unfortunately, the birth certificate that I have for my grandmother only verifies her birthday. It doesn't mention her parents. The marriage record does but, one problem is that family name is spelled slighly different. Instead of Miyakaku it's Miyakado. On census records and other records it uses both spells. Once again thank you for your information. That is very helpful. I was hoping that it would be possible to order the records without having to visit the city. I live in the USA and although I was just in Japan a few months ago I am not planning on returning anytime soon. Maybe I will be able to find a genealogist in Japan that can help me. Thanks again.
