Hi Anthea, my great grandfather was a dutchman by the name of Franc Croes, I have a picture of him in a uniform. He lived in Semerang, Java and died on the 05/07/1904, he was married to Sara Carolina van Kesteren. I hope this has a connection as I am also researching my ancestors.

My granmothers family is from the same line. My great grandfather was Louis Michel August and he was the son of Emanuel August. My aunt gave me a document (family tree) that was written by one of my granparents, but it was written in Dutch (no one understood what it was). I recently took the time to translate it as much as possible, it starts at Annius Abrahami de Melverda.

My great grandfathers name was Louis Michel August Abrahami de Melverda. He was the son of Emanuel August Abrahami de Melverda, the grandson of Emanuel August Abrahami de Melverda who was the son of Cornelis Johannes Adrianus Abrahami de Melverda and his second wife (Javanese) Sadinah. Louis Michel August was my grandmothers father. She married my grandfather Johan Frederick Sikman who served in the KNIL in JAVA.

James (Jim) Lingard b.1861 of Lancashire & Borneo

I am researching my g-g grandfather, James (Jim Lingard) b. 1861 in Lancashire, UK.

He became a trader in the Malaya region, working with his uncle Captain William Lingard. His brother, Joshua also migrated and apparently setled in Penang. Jim lived for a period of time at the trading post of Tandjong Redeb, in Berau (formerly Dutch East Borneo).

He had at least 4 children with a local woman (name unknown- possibly Siti?). These children were: Edward b.1896, Nelly b.1899, Walter James b.1901 and Albert Joshua b.1910. All of the children were educated in Singapore. Edward married a Agnes 'Ghita' Kirkpatrick-Caldecot of Kuching, Sarawak and lived in Miri for some years.

Jim Lingard apparently died in Surabaya in 1921.

I am interested in any information relating to the Lingards in the Borneo/Singapore region.

The decendants of the couple LEMMENS X MANOPO have been menioned in one of three books published by the late Paul Lemmens. I have a copy of his books . That Indonesian Lemmens line started with Louis Leopold Lemmens who came with the KNIL to Java in around 1880.
As he was with the KNIL the Lemmens-Manopo family lived all over Java.

My Great Grandmother

I'm looking for information on my great grandmother. I know she was born in Indonesia and passed away at a pretty young age. Her name is Pauline Kodoatie and she was married to Filip Hendrick Ferdinandus Rugebregt. My great grandfather passed away in 1944 while being transported to a japanese prison camp. The ship was torpedoed by the British. I believe she passed away before her husband. I do know she was an educated woman and was a teacher. That was rare in that day. If anyone has any information on her.....please contact me.

My great grandfather name is Henry Donald Macgillavry.

I'm quite unsure about when he was born due to big different of ages to my great grandmother, could be 1885-1890. I don't have any idea where he was born.

The name of his parents: His father is the Macgillavry and mother is Indonesian women from Menado,North Sulawesi and the family name is Senduk

The mother of my grandmother name is Raden Ayu Mustakinah. She was born in Blitar, Indonesia in 1901. She could be not in the Macgillavry's book as she was a 2nd wife after my great grandfather divorced to an Indonesian women in Kediri, Indonesia(don't know her name).
Her great grandparents was a minister in Blitar Indonesia and her parents was a minister in Banyuwangi Indonesia.

I know it will be difficult to find as most information given was only around Indonesia. But if you have an information I really appreciated. Thanks for your help.

There is a book about the Mac Gillavry family tree, but it does not mention your grand mother.
so can you write again:

the father of your grandmother:
what was his full name?
when was he born?
where was he born?
the namens of his parents?

the mother of your grandmother:
what was her full name?
when was she born?
where was she born?
who where her parents?

may be I can find their names in the book!

My grandmother born in 1936(her name is Sri Kustinah alias Mary Henryetta and her nick name is Ninik), told me that her father was a Sergeant in office military before he spent his retirement in Indonesia and worked in Sugar Company. My Great Grandfather name is Henry Donald Macgillivray born around 1890(??). My great grandmother is the 2nd wife and her name is Mustakinah (born in 1901, related to Javanese Royalty in Blitar-Indonesia). My Great great grandparent was owned a cigarette company in Kediri / Blitar - Indonesia.
Henry was taken by Japanese soldiers and never returned. Due to safety my grandmother need to be hiding at that time.
Please, if anyone can connect me to the relatives of 1st wife of my great grandfather. Thanks in advance

Kodo Somato married Pedro Assacruz on 13 August 1898 on Thursday Island, Queensland, Australia. Her parents were listed as Doripuripu Somato (father) and Yaramriman (mother).

He was born in Indonesia and was a resident of the Treasure Coast for 25 years.

He was a member of the City Blessing Church in West Palm Beach and the Indonesian American Society of Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years Susan Siregar; a daughter, Valerie Siregar, five sons, Matthew, Phillip, Joey, Henry, and Dale Siregar, all of Port St. Lucie; his mother, and several brothers and sisters; all in Indonesia.

All County Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Two brothers, Benjamin Roelofsen te Strake (Testrake) born 1906 Willemstad, Netherlands and Theodoor Willem te Strake, born 1908 Willemstad, NL.,
went from Netherlands to Soerabaja, in 1927 and 1931.

I'm searching for their family's, marriage, children, and so on,
are there still living familymembers?
I''m also wondering if there may somewere still be a photo of their grandparents , Berend Willem te Strake and Hendrika Wilhelmina Nuijs, from Winterswijk (I'm from the Nuijs family).
but I now that's a very small chance.

We looked for you in the yearly almanac of the Dutch East Indies (the so called Regerings Almanak van Nederlands-Indië- or Naamlijst ).
From the 1898 almanac untill the 1900 one, G.Th Buxton is mentioned as a inhabitant of Soerabaja. After the mentioning in the 1900 list, his name disappears from the almanacs. He seems not to be mentioned in the list of decaesed. (till 1922. But there are many faults and lacs in these lists).
So may be he left the Dutch Indies?

From the 1863 t/m the 1876 almanac a John Ambroze Buxton is mentioned as a inhabitant of Batavia.

Thomas George Buxton (also called George Thomas) b. 1874 in Singapore and moved to Semarang. He became a teacher of English at a local Chinese school. He died abt. 1938 most probably in Semarang. Married a lady called Soetji and had one son John Charles Buxton (1921-1954)(also called Johan). Soetji was from a Turkish/Javanese family.
