Hi Jason
The records of The India Office Records are the repository of the archives of the East India Company (1600-1858), the Board of Control or Board of Commissioners for the Affairs of India (1784-1858), the India Office (1858-1947), the Burma Office (1937-1948), and a number of related British agencies overseas.http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/findhelpregion/asia/india/indiaoffi...

I think W H Douglas and Mackenzie (not sure which one) were in partnership as tradersDouglas Mackenzie (http://eresources.nlb.gov.sg/newspapers/Digitised/Article/si...)

I think Douglas and Mackenzie were in business as traders DouglasMackenzie but Douglas died and I assume Mackenzie then went to Australia. Although the Singapore column gives him dying in Edinburgh it looks as if this finished the business.
There are web page links for B E I C families on the India Office Records pages
Sorry a bit garbled but may be useful
