My mother was born in Jacarta Indonesia, parents are King Tong Yong and mother Ie A Twee. She was born under Yong A Moy in 1927 and at 1 month old, she was given away to Dutch-Indonesian family Carel Ferdinand Smith and Estina.
According to my Mom, she was one of many siblings and they were poor and the fact that she was 'just' a girl, she was given away. When she was about to marry my Father, she found out that she was never legally adopted, and needed permission from her birth parents to marry. She put an ad in the Dutch, Indonesian and Chinese papers, but never was able to find them or any of her family. Does any of her relatives still exist? If so please respond. Thanks, Gladys
