Hi Anthea, my great grandfather was a dutchman by the name of Franc Croes, I have a picture of him in a uniform. He lived in Semerang, Java and died on the 05/07/1904, he was married to Sara Carolina van Kesteren. I hope this has a connection as I am also researching my ancestors.
