Hello I am a decendant from a MARIA KOFIHOKO or perhaps spelled: KOFI HOKO or also spelled KOFFIEHOKKO????.

She lived in Indonesia in the year 1800. All that I know is that my great grandmother was from the ASHANTI TRIBE and that she was taken to Indonesia (then called Dutch-Indies) as a slave. When she converted to the catholic religion, years later, greatgrandma was given the name MARIA when she was baptized, and became a FREE WOMAN. Maria met my greatgrandfather in the year 1870. His name was MATHIAS CONRAD OHLENROTH. He was just promoted to sargent to the Dutch army when they met. Maria was a proud woman, perhaps even an Ashanti princess.(??)

She had a fierce posture, and people also refer to her as THE AFRICAN BEAUTY. We have no PICTURES of MARIA. She passed away in the year 1880 and was laid to rest in Kupang (Koepang) on the island of TIMOR in INDONESIA. She gave my great grandfather 6 children: 4 boys and 2 girls.

Is there anyone who can give me more information, or who happen to have related information, please contact.

Thank you in advance.
