FRENCH -- Maxwell Henry died peacefully in Lions Gate Hospital on the morning of January 28, 1999 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Calcutta, India on November 10, 1914 and raised in England. Trained as a Professional Engineer, he served in the Merchant Navy during the Second World War. He brought his family to Canada in the 1950's and he continued his long and successful career as an Engineer, working for major corporations both in Canada and the United States. He retired in 1979 and enjoyed many years filled with days that began with walks through his beloved Lighthouse Park and continued with many happy hours working in his garden. He is survived by his wife Olive; son John; daughter Elizabeth (ELWOOD); granddaughters Caroline and Katie (Elwood); daughter-in-law Barbara; son-in-law Hugh Elwood; brothers Paul and Desmond in Australia; and many nieces and nephews in Australia, England and Africa. His vitality and energy will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbours, the dog walkers in Lighthouse Park, and by Max, his Siberian Husky namesake who loved him dearly. No service by request. Friends who wish to do so may make memorial donations directly to the Palliative Care Unit, Lions Gate Hospital or to the Prostate Cancer Research Fund # 7408014.
