Hi all, I recently acquired a copy of this rare book written by Aris Kalfaian in 1930. Chomaklou (also written Çomakli/Chomaklu) was a small Armenian village between Everek-Fenesse (Develi today) and Caesarea/Kayseri in what is today central Turkey. After escaping the genocide, the author wrote in great detail about life in his home village. The original text was published in Armenian by the Chomaklou Relief Society in 1930, but the book wasn't published in English until the early 1980s.
One of the great things about this book, beyond the level of detail in describing the village, is that the author included a list of the village's inhabitants as well as a map of where they lived in the village. Imagine my excitement when I saw my great-great-grandfather's name on that list! If you have ancestors originating from Chomaklou, reply here with their name or send me a message, and I will do my best to see if their names appear in the book.
Best,
Chelsea
