Does anyone have any history of this Mother's Hospital which I understand is now a home for unmarried women.

Hello I don't know much about this hospital, I know it was a maternity hospital, I was born there in Jan 1943, my brother in 1953, my daughter in 1963 and my youngest son in 1976. It closed towards the beginning of 1980 - I heard that it was an old age home.

My son was born there in January 1976,it was recommended to us by our doctor at that time as it was a maternity hospital. as far as I know it was for people who could not afford to go to a regular hospital and was used by unmarried mothers at the time. (I was married but we didn,t have a lot of money)The salvation army band used to play outside every sunday morning and the nursing staff were great.
