Thank you for replying. Since I read your message, I've been glued to the computer, looking at hundreds of records, and have managed to find George's parents. They were George Burton born 1865 Wymondham, Norfolk, and Ellen Barber born 1866 in Wymondham, Norfolk. They were married in September 1889. Although our George was born in 1883, George Burton Senior was the father. They had a further child, a daughter, Florence Burton born 1890 in Wymondham, Norfolk. Ellen's parents were John Barber and Sarah Peel.

Can I ask where you got the information of George Hall and his wife, Ellen, and son Alexander? I will be going down that route when I get a chance.

As for our George's first wife, I havent found anything yet, but he must have married young because he married my ancestor in the early 1900's, although I am yet to find the exact year because it was in Nigeria. My family says they had 10 children!! I havent found any of them!! I can only assume they were all born in Nigeria. I am still looking into that part of the puzzle.

It is late now, well late for me anyway with having to get up for work tomorrow, so I'll be off to bed...but I will keep on looking for this family because I am intrigued.
