My Parnell surname is traced back to an african slave, Pompey. Tradition is that he and members of his family was lured into a ship at french Morocco Africa. They were promised Jobs in America. The ship docked in Beaufort, South Carolina, USA where they were sold into slavery. Later they were purchased by a softhearted white slave master, that lived in North Florida ,whose surname was Parnell.
Any Information concerning Pompey will be greatly appreciated. Please email me.

hi Ella,
Is POMPEY his Surname? Do you know approximately when he came to US? I added a little more to subject line so people will be more likely to read. At this point I don't know of any online genealogy sources for Morocco records.

Thanks for posting where the ship docked in US - I've been trying to figure out which ports boats leaving Morocco docked at.

Best of Luck, Nancy
