Searching for additional information on my ancestor, Frederick K Hyde, from New Orleans, who traveled to Liberia from Baltimore in November 1859 with his wife, Sarah Ann on the Mary Caroline Stevens, eventually becoming a high-ranking government official. He settled in Careysburg, Liberia and lived there until 1867.

Hoping to meet descendants of Americo-Liberians or natives who’s ancestors may have known the Hyde’s; ideally searching for documentation of a personal nature, such as old letters and photos. Frederick was acquainted with the Cain’s, the Greens, the Lewis’s, Rev. John Seys and Rev. Mr. Thompson, all en route to Careysburg. Anyone out there related to any of these families? Please assist!
