My Great Uncle Rev Edgar T Wood arrived in Ghana Sekondi - Takoradi in 1935 as a Methodist Minister of Religion, any information on what he did over there and if he ever came back to the UK greatly appreciated

Normally if one wants to research these missionaries, one goes to the Methodist Archives, which are usually very complete on the subject.

The Missionaries were always good at reporting back to headquarters - otherwise they wouldn't be sent the supplies that they needed.

That wasn't his first trip. He had been in 1930, 1932 and 1934 - on the latter two taking his wife.

Thanks for the info Tom, I will try and find the Methodist archives and see what I can find out from there. Its interesting that he took my Great Aunt on his later trips as that means he did return to this country after all.

Also just wondering if you could tell me where you got this information from?

Thanks

Hi
I, too, am most interested in any Methodist archives, and where they can be viewed.
I have a Rev. Cornah, Methodist Minister, who I think went to Ghana in the early 1900's, and would love to find out more about his time there.
Frances
