Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this and just started researching my family tree/lineage. So my interest started 3yrs ago. I was at a convention geared toward African Americans. The company 23 and me were there giving free DNA tests. I decided to take one (free). My results came back with the break down of 81.3% Sub-Saharan African, 15.1% European, 1.2% East Asian/Native American and the other one was unknown. I just recently decided that I wanted to start up my search again. I received a map of DNA relatives (3rd-5th cousins). I was surprised to see that there are so many potential relatives all over the world. Most of the searched showed the SE, NE, Midwest, Mid Atlantic and West Coast. I also had connections in Western Europe (Ireland, Austria, UK, Germany, Switerland) etc. And others sprinkled all over. I'm not sure how accurate this info is. I am the only one who has been tested. It was recommended to me that I do research on Ancestry. com. I have found some interesting info on my late maternal grandparents, but not too much on my late paternal grandmother. Growing up I didn't know anything about my paternal grandfather. I would like to reach out to the community and get some support from anyone on researching my family tree. Hope to hear from you soon!!! PS. My family surnames: Harris, Osbourne, Harris, Mathews (or Matthews). These are some that I am working with now.
Thanks, T from Massachusetts.
