I viewed the slave manifest of this schooner and saw the name of an arrival Hector which was my grandfather's given name. I believe the slave Hector maybe my great great grandfather because our family surname is also McLaughlin. This is also the name of the shipper or owner (who bought the slaves?) The confusion is that the manifest says port of departure Wilmington and port of arrival New Orleans.
My father's family origins are North Carolina and I currently have family living in Wilmington. Were the slaves dropped off in Wilmington and then the Rival headed for New Orleans?
