DNA test on SMGF.org (Cameroon)

Hi......I recently searched the database on SMGF to compare DNA results and it mathched up with a family from Cameroon, but no surname was mentioned. I'd love to be able to contact them. If you have put info onto this site and you are connedted with Cameroon please contact me.

Thanks for replying. I don't know my grandfather's middle name. He was known only as Thomas to my mother. His father was called Londn and was a land agent.

It is likely that he had another name but we do not know it.

Hi

Have any of you had success contacting churches for information.

My grand father was catholic. Assuming he atttended church before leaving Cameroon his baptism record may exist in church archives.

Any sugestions?

Hi all

I am looking for information about the Duala family.

I am compiling a family tree and would like to include information from the Duala family.

My grandfather Thomas Duala was born approx. 1900 in Calabar/Cameroon. He joined the Merchant Navy and eventually married in the UK 1945.

It has been suggested that members of his family left Africa and settled around the world.

If anyone has any information please contact me.

Cameroon names

Does anyone know how people in Cameroon write their names (meaning the order of their names)? I have the name of "Ugam Rebecca" on a pedigree chart and I'm not sure if the name was written backwards or if they have different naming customs and "Rebecca" is considered the last name. I have many more cases like this and am not sure how to handle them. Thanks in advance.

I too would like to have any information available regarding Birth, Marriage, and Death records for Cameroon, and more specifically the South West Province. After my father's visit from Cameroon this summer, I was under the impression that most genealogical information is oral.

our surname is from a part of Germany which is called "Hessen". In my country it isn't a very common name, and I think, everybody with this surname has the same roots as I. I'm not sure about the meaning of our name - may be it refers on a profession in former times. Actually I can't find my dictionary. So it's too difficult to explain my oppinion about the meaning. If you want, we may continue our conversation a little later.

Hi, does anyone have any information on Patrick Muma formerly of Cameroon, West Africa and/or any of his relatives?Or does anyone know anything about the history of the name Muma and how it came to Africa (if it didn't originate there?)I've learnt that it is also a European name and could have orignally come from Europe.
