French Army in Algeria - records from 1830...?

I am looking for the French Army record for Johann KAPPES b. 16 Jul 1804 Alsace-Lorraine. He served in the French Army for 12 years with a tour of duty in Algeria. As I understand it, the French Invasion of Algeria occurred in 1830 - so his time spent in Algeria was most likely between 1830 and 1842 when he emigrated to America.
Shortly before coming to America he married (~1842)Catherine BLEICHNER who was b. 1814 at Veckersviller, Moselle, France (near Phalsbourg, but I have not been able to find their marriage record or the town from which they departed.
Any help with locating the French Army records, should they exist, for those who served in Algeria 1830 onward would be appreciated appreciated.
Sincerely,
George

Hello,

I am looking for my mother's French relatives. My mother was born and adopted in the U.S. and we recently learned that her birthmother's name was Josette Crisafi (maiden name was Garbine). Josette was born in 1920 in Maillot, Algeria but was of French and Spanish descent. She supposedly had a brother named Andre and a mother named Josephine. My mother and I looking for any of Josette's siblings, nieces or nephews. If anyone has information about the Garbine family from Algeria or France, please contact me.

c'est possible; maintenant ma mere est catholic. S'il vous plait, je parle en anglais. Mamman ma dit je parle comme une vaiche espanol ;)

Andalusia was muslim and jewish along with others including spaniards (catholics). During the reign of Isabella and Philip the jews were forced to become catholic or leave or suffer torture. The muslims were also forced to leave or change religions. So, the origination of our family could be jewish or muslim or a mixture as the muslims were much more accepting of other peoples.

I like to think we are like a rich sauce, with many flavors well blended to bring out the best.

I would love to know more of our families history from you. My mother's father was Abdulhamid and her mother was Ourida Saadi. Maybe you knew of them also.

I feel so lucky as all my life I wished for cousins and a large family, and now that I am getting older I have found I have many wonderful people in my family, even though we may be far apart.

I can be reached at satinsback@wowway.com or daughter_of_zakia@hotmail.com

Looking for a relative of my mother's. Her name is Gilberte Antoinette CHOLET b.04/14/1928 in Algieria, probably in Oran. All I know is her father was French and her mother was Spanish, He died in WWII, was a pilot, M.I.A., probably shot down in German territory. Her mother's name was Adele Blanche Lucie Ermine Anton Cholet, she died in Paris in 1966 or so. Gilberte has a cousin by her aunt Helen Anton Lecerf named Gerard whom I think lives in France. Gilberte emigrated to the U.S.A. in about 1948 to the Tacoma, WA area. Was married for about 7 years to a man named WOLD, Kenneth. I'm not really interested in him but maybe the name would ring a bell with someone.

Thank you much for your offer of information. According to my mother, our family is very famous throught North Africa. She says we came from the Andalusions and are distributed all around the Mediteranean. The more I research our family the more I find very strong, highly intelligent members! From what I have heard we are all inter-related!

As I am currently not having health problems I am able to be online more. Please, all of you who are of the Zaouche family, feel free to e-mail me at satinsback@wowway.com.

I am sorry to have missed the connections with people previously. I have had a number of health problelms. I am still interested in finding more information on the family Zaouche. As said previously, my grandfather's name was Abdulhamid. He moved to France with his daughter Zakia. He had been with Ourida Saadi, but she stayed in Algeria and he remarried in France. I am fairly certain only 2 of his children are still alive -- my mother and one other daughter. Please e-mail me at satinsback@wowway.com.

Thank you again for any help.

Read your search message from a Google.UK search. I too am a decendent of this John Stewart. Am trying to prove it thought. Looking for help in identifing his children rather than "best guess from normal Scottish naming conventions." My ancestor is Alexander Stewart who came to USA in 1720 with Margaret Dixon and children in tow. Best research available leads others to believe that my Alexander is this John Stewarts one of eight sons. Can you shed any light from your research?

Bonjour,

Hello. I am the grandaughter of Marius Beroud who was born in 1884 in Zarouria, Algeria to Jean Beroud and Fanny Bisonson. This Beroud family were originally from Switzerland although maybe the family lines can be traced back to the Burgundy area of France. Grandpa had brothers and sisters of whom we know very little other than their names.
Grandpa came to Canada, met our grandmother and took up a homestead in northern Manitoba. I would like to exchange trees with other family members working on the Beroud/Bisonson family. Thanks. Sharon
