There is now a Yoakum mailing list for anyone interested in receiving information regarding the Yoakum (any way it's spelled) genealogical information. Just like other Mailing Lists, you have two options. You can subscribe to the list in "L" mode- you'll receive each message as it appears on the list, or in "D" mode- which stands for Digest. "D" will allow you to receive messages en-masse, so to speak. To SUBSCRIBE to Yoakum-L, please send an email to Yoakum-L-request@rootsweb.com. In the body and subject line, please type in "subscribe"- without the quotes. To UNSUBSCRIBE, send an email to the same address with the word unsubscribe in the subject line and body of the message. To SUBSCRIBE to Yoakum-D, please send an email to Yoakum-D-request@rootsweb.com, with the word subscribe in the subject line and in the body of the message. To UNSUBSCRIBE, send and email to the same address with the word unsubscribe in the subject line and body of the message. Currently, this is a new list, so there is no way to determine when or how much email you will receive from this list. If, at some point, you find that you are receiving too much email, PLEASE consider the digest mode prior to taking the next step, which is to unsubscribe. As with all other lists on Rootsweb, the following activities are prohibited and can result in temporary or permanent banning from the list. (This is not a complete list, just a list of the most common possible prohibited activities.) 1. Spamming. Spamming is sending out a mass email that has nothing to do with the list- frequently spam is intended to clog up the list and its recipients email boxes. Spamming will result in immediate and permanent banning from this list. 2. Inappropriate postings. Inappropriate is defined (but not limited to the following) Obscene or abusive postings that are intended to insult or degrade another post. Rootsweb- and all other geneaological sites are intended to be family oriented, so this is not the place to discuss sexually related issues or material. 3. Rude or argumentative postings. I will definately understand if there is a disagreement regarding a specific line of descent or ascent- especially within the Yoakum line. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it is important to remember that "facts" are frequently subject to re-interpretation after new information is provided. In essence this means that (for example) telling another researcher that they are "stupid", etc. because of their information, is both PROHIBITED and actually, rather arrogant. 4. We are a free site. Rootsweb provides free genealogical information for anyone who wishes to research their familial line. No one -including admistrators- are allowed to proffer services for charge on this site. If you do so, you will be warned, the posting will be deleted and you will be placed on suspension. 5. Enjoy yourself- remain open minded to the possibility that someone, somewhere, has that elusive piece of evidence you need to complete your family list! If there are any questions regarding these activites, please feel free to post the questions on the message board or contact me (Rajean Gallagher, Yoakum L/D and Message Board Administrator) through one of the following contacts:Yoakum-admin@rootsweb.com or, rajeang@yahoo.com. Enjoy the list and Happy Hunting!
