Welcome to the Jacak Message
Board!
My name is Cherie
Cayemberg and I’m the administrator for this board.
Please ensure that all posts are relevant to this board. If posts are found to be irrelevant to this
board I will do my best to relocate them to the appropriate board, if one
exists. If an appropriate board cannot
be found and they are not relevant, they will be deleted.
Do not post
information about living people without their express consent!
Always be respectful in your posts.
Message boards are not the place for bickering or insults. Any post that is rude, threatening or uses
foul language will be deleted and the person will be reported.
Do not use this Message Board to sell your services or other
products. This is not the place for
it. Anyone offering paid services on
this Message Board will have their post deleted and will be reported. If you would like to conduct for-hire
research services on Ancestry.com please check out their “Hire an Expert” link
at the top right of any page. You can
register so others can hire you there.
BEWARE of anyone
offering to sell you their services on any Message Board! Professional Genealogists do NOT
troll Message Boards looking for clientele!
Try to make your SUBJECT line as specific as you can. For example, putting “John Smith” as a
subject on a Smith message board is perhaps too broad because of how common the
name is. Putting, “John Smith, Luzerne
Co, PA 1800s” would give people a better idea of who exactly you are looking
for. Also, restating the Message Board
title in the subject line and nothing else is not helpful and doesn’t tell
other researchers what it is you are looking for. Having a subject line that is too broad will
most likely result in FEWER rather than more hits. Most researchers are busy and do not have
time to go through every message on a popular message board. You stand a much better chance of not only
getting others to read your post if you are specific, but getting the RIGHT
people to read it and make those connections you are looking for!
I have several Message Boards to administer to and will be checking the
boards as frequently as possible. If you
notice anything that doesn’t seem right, is offensive, irrelevant, etc please
don’t hesitate to email me and bring it to my attention.
Good luck in your research!
- Cherie
