Welcome to the Esham surname message board! You may also want to visit the Isham and Isom surname message boards, just to cover all the bases. Use the Search function to look for folks researching your area of interest, and post your own queries and information.
Here are few tips and suggestions to make your search and queries more productive:
1) Make sure the
Subject line of your message gives info on what the message contains, and enough info to interest fellow researchers. A subject line that says, "Researching family," "Esham relatives," etc. usually won't get very many lookers.
2) The
Surname field is for the
surnames contained in your message. Don't put all the surnames you're working on,
only those contained in that particular message. Use commas between each name, not slashes, etc. If your post contains surnames, an example of how the surname field should look is:
Esham, Howell, Isham
3)The
Classification of your post will usually be a Query. Any question at all, no matter what it pertains to, is a Query. If you are responding to a query and you give infomation about, say, a marriage, then the Marriage classification would be appropriate. However, if you add some info about the couple's children and some census readings, then the Lookup classification would be what you'd want. If you're not sure which classification to use, just put Query. It's all purpose and works well!
4) Don't post anything under copyright, including obituaries. Instead, give the pertinent information included in the copyrighted material and then give a link or address where the entire article/obit can be found. Or offer to do look-ups from books or newspapers you have.
5) Any posting of a rude or insulting nature will be immediately removed. We're all here to have fun and learn more about genealogy, not to read your personal gripes.
6) Instead of posting chatty and personal messages to one another here, e-mail your new-found cousins or fellow researchers privately. By clicking on their name you will see their e-mail address. It's coded so that spammers can't pick it up, but you will be able to read it.
