Can anyone give me any information about the Home Guard for about 1918c. I have a birth certificate for 1918 for Putney, London. The father is a Henry Light, Cabinet Maker. Also listed in the occupation column it tells me that Henry Light was a Private 337,Home Guard, Works Company Labour Corps."Cabinet Maker" The only information I have about the Home Guard is that of "Dads Army" fame. Is there a site I can visit that will give me more information. Is it possible that a record exists somewhere about Home Guard members? As I have his reg. number this may help. Perhaps someone may have more information that may help me, Henry Light lived at 35, Gladwyn Road. Putney. Wandsworth. London. Best Wishes. Jane.
