| Char Bah, a specialist in African American genealogy, is holding a free workshop on Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Alexandria. She's presenting “Their Voices Can Be Heard III: Tracing Kinfolks in the Neighborhood,” where she will explore differences between urban and rural communities that can help family historians make key connections in their research. She will also share how these differences helped her connect pre- and post-Civil War individuals to Freedmen’s Cemetery, the historic African-American burial ground in Alexandria. The workshop is at the Alexandria Black History Museum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can call 703.838.4356 for more info. | |
